Also da kannste nichts sagen. Habe 7 Anwendungen von einem #raspberrypi in #Container auf einen #proxmox Server in 1,5 Stunden mit #claudecode umgezogen und konnte nebenher andere Sachen machen. Da waren keine ganz einfachen Sachen dabei. Unter anderem #Grafana / #Prometheus #Datenbank etc.. Das war großes Tennis und eine echte Erleichterung.

It’s alive! The container host (HoloNet) is running and Docker is installed. The final (and scariest) task is to recreate the stacks from the existing server, move the external storage volume over, attach it to Proxmox, and then mount it with the container host.

So weird seeing the VM on my LAN with it’s own local IP…

Installing Debian in a console was no fun, but I got through it with the help of Claude and Gemini.

Полчаса в день у меня уходило на ручной обход шести нод Proxmox через веб-интерфейс — он показывает по одной ноде за раз. И часть рутины всё равно проскакивала: задание PBS остановилось — никто не заметил, ZFS scrub отключили на maintenance и забыли включить, на ноде накопились pending kernel updates, и о них узнаёшь, когда уже надо ребутить. На Proxmox-кластере, который я администрирую, после миграции с проприетарного гипервизора этот операционный долг копился особенно быстро: отключённые таймеры scrub, остановленные после рестарта PBS задания резервного копирования, дрейф конфигурации между нодами после мажорного апгрейда. Стандартный путь — полноценный observability-стэк: Zabbix или Prometheus + Alertmanager + Grafana. Это правильный путь, но он плохо подходит к задаче «быстро получить единый экран по Proxmox-кластеру». В этой статье — про другой вариант: лёгкий read-only слой над Proxmox/PBS, который разворачивается за несколько часов и закрывает первый уровень видимости. Инструмент называется Pulse — где он работает, где нет, и что выяснилось в первый месяц эксплуатации.

@yehor My #Proxmox PBS, just installed but not active yet is:
- Dell OptiPlex mini i5 8GB £80
- external 4T sata/USB drive that's been sitting unused for a few years. I have another that I use for rotating rsync backup along with a couple of bare SSDs, so might deploy that at some point. New storage/RAM is too expensive atm

I think I'm going to have to open up some old kit and scavenge for RAM at some point, but this will do for a start.

Right… So, the #Proxmox is running nice. I have found a spare 2T hard drive (2,5”, 5400rpm, unfortunately), but it will have to do for now.

Now I need to plan on how to migrate #HomeAssistant to a #HAOS VM. I have tested backup import and most of my things were surprisingly there. I’m reluctantly thinking about moving the #Zigbee dongle, but… Not sure how it’s gonna go with #HomeKit integration. I have easy over 80 devices…🤡

I still need some kind of redundand storage…

Trying to get #Proxmox Datacenter Manager running inside PVE as a VM, but can’t add any clusters or backup servers to it. Keep getting error 400 when the handshake occurs. Has anyone got any ideas why?

Well that was fun. I couldn't get passwordless ssh working on my new #Proxmox VE or PBS.

Turns out my laptop's default ssh key was still RSA (now deprecated) and I had to generate a new one.

Shame the debug messages just say "failed" rather than why, but good old #StackOverflow had a helpful answer to a related question. 😓

Proxmox is great, I use it at work and in the homelab :) There is also https://xcp-ng.org , never used it myself, but have never heard anything negative about them.

Talking to my IT guy at work looking for help with a #VMware issue I'm having. Since the broadcom takeover, I've been a bit interested in moving away from VMware. He suggested moving to #HyperV. The thought of having all of our VMs running on a Windows host is just anxiety inducing. As person who would gladly never touch another Microsoft product the rest of my life, the last thing I feel I'd want is to move to hyper-v. The only alternative to #ESXi that I'm aware of is #Proxmox though.

I have successfully installed #Proxmox, but there is no disk pool to work on. I think it was a mistake, unless I now add some physical or network drives to it…😅

I migrated the container with #Wanderer to a more powerful #Proxmox node, increasing the number of CPUs and the amount of RAM. Now I can build trails using my own computing powers!

#Wanderer also uses #OVERPASS and #Nominatim, and it looks like I can host them as well.

Having learned a lot from my 3 node #kubernetes cluster, I have consolidated my entire homelab environment (mainly to reduce power cost) into my HP #zbook. (4tb of SSD space and 128gb ram) so that's how running #proxmox and supplies core servers and #rancher managed k8s

I appreciate its a single point of failure, however the data is backed off to an external nas and its a risk im willing to take.
