    This is so wonky. Last night I powered it off, disconnected the AC adapter, and put it aside to test another machine. Out of curiosity, since after replacing the battery it continued to have problems, I powered it back up. The blinking amber light stopped, it appears to be running fine on the new OEM battery, and the glitchy keys and mouse problems from this weekend have automagically resolved (for now).

    What seemed like another machine destined for recycling now seems to be working as expected. I will test it for the next few days.

    This is a real head-scratcher.
