The stereotypes associated with each #BSD really do sell them all short.

#OpenBSD is so much more than the "security" BSD. In fact, that's really almost a non-factor. I use it extensively because I find using it easier for a lot of tasks than a Linux distro. relayd(8) is a far easier reverse proxy than nginx. httpd(8) is probably my go-to web server. With OpenBSD, I just hit the ground running with its opinionated software choices.

#NetBSD is quite similar and more than the "portability" BSD, though I do love that aspect as a retrocomputing nerd. It's something I can rely on to just work. The community is also lovely, even before the influx of Linux refugees.

I'm less familiar with #FreeBSD or #DragonflyBSD, though I would happily consider them for workstations as I feel they would be good at such things.

I'm so glad that there's a strong movement to #RunBSD now. So tired of feeling like Linux really was my only option for a Unix-like OS.
