Social-Media-Verbot für Kinder ist in etwa so als würde man Autofahrer einfach machen lassen was sie wollen, dann feststellen, daß ständig Kinder totgefahren werden und dann aber nicht die Autofahrer reglementieren sondern ein Kinder-Hausarrest-Gesetz erlassen, damit sie nicht mehr draußen herumlaufen und überfahren werden.

Ansich ist das eine gute Analogie. Sie funktioniert aber in Deutschland leider nicht, weil das in Deutschland quasi der Status quo ist.

If I was to nominate the two things I find most striking about Mastodon they'd be:

1. the ability to edit posts after posting; this (as my followers will know) is a facility that I use a lot (and thanks to my great crew of typo spotters);

2. the norm of civility that we all maintain; of course trolling & slamming is not completely absent, but at least in my timeline & discussions/conversations civility have been the over-riding characteristic of my exchanges.

People figuring out how to be social. Realizing that cliques and group behaviors are very real. Also that group-think and censorship to enforce it also happen... because we are people and social power is a real form of power.

The best way to combat this is to encourage individuals and small groups to host their own social media.

Most of the "big" Mastodon servers won't see my posts because they block most of the independent #fediverse servers... but there are still ways I can build an audience and express what I want to.

I think that a lot of the social interaction has retreated to private groups that are not visible from the outside. Hard to gauge this though... because I can't see it if I am not part of those groups.
