        🚨🚨 EMERGENCY MUTUAL AID FOR DV SURVIVORS 🚨🚨 [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

        Safety is astronomically expensive.

        I'm a queer, genderfluid, chronically ill DV survivor & parent. I fled my abuser over a year ago, and the first DV protection order that I sought—without a lawyer—was denied. We've been in court for over a year, and my 2-year-old was exposed to months of dangerous split custody because of mistakes that I made before I was able to secure legal representation. No pro bono lawyers were available but I found a DV expert who charges on a sliding scale. Unfortunately, the sliding scale *starts* at $200/hr, so that's what I pay.

        I've fundraised over $10k for legal expenses, and with trial coming up, I anticipate needing that much again over the next 2 months. Right now, the EMERGENCY BILL is $2,343 and I need to pay it by this Monday, September 14.

        The firm also wants to keep a $2,000 trust so that they can pay my bills from that first and I don't tip into legal debt, like I have right now.

        On top of that, I'm out of gas, and have a $250 bill due on Tuesday. We really, really need help. We are physically safe right now, with a new DV protection order in place, but it's essential to stay on top of these bills to survive the final hurdles of family court.

        Finally, my abuser has harassed me all over the fediverse and I had to switch servers without being able to port my followers yet. That means my fundraising visibility has been trashed. Your boosts + follows are vital to helping us reach our goal.

          THANK YOU to those who helped pay off the last legal bill! Since I was unable to contribute to the trust, the newest bill is due in full immediately. It's another $1,919.

          This is especially urgent because we just received two biased, problematic court orders and have to immediately request clarification and changes to maintain our safety and fight an unfair penalty.

          This time I'd also love to get caught up with the $2,000 legal trust, and I also have bills to cover this week that I'm well short of.
