I lean more and more toward switching to or for my daily driver laptop. I just keep getting smacked with Word incompatibilities.

Re-reading a thesis for someone defending this week. It's a Word doc. I open it in on . The images are all gone. Yes, the see images option in options is checked. They're all just invisible. Open the same doc in Word and it's fine.

There's no "open in Word" option on Linux. In , I find this to be biggest hurdle.

Wait. Wait. Wait. Spectacle - my screenshot app in Kubuntu - can extract text from a screenshot?

And it does it quite well?

    <3 Kubuntu. <3 KDE. <3 Spectacle.

well well well... had to bump this instance to 4.6.x but it required 3.3.x which does not come natively with 24.04

Against what i normally do, I did upgrade the server to 26.04 BEFORE the .1 usual update.

All went well, then had to fk about a bit with the new ruby version on the old instance.

Done all this on a backup clone and now I am posting this to a newly updated v4.6.3

You've got to love Proxmox for this shit.

i've been using Linux (Ubuntu) for quite a while. the only thing i regret - why the fuck i have not done it YEARS ago!
it's light. everything works. everything is easy. no more bullshit. no paid "subscriptions".
above the fact that i don't need my private computer spying on me.

              damn laziness.

i have no wish to waste time for annoying services stuffed with advertising and "recommended" shit imposed in the fb, insta, youtube and similar. this part of the internet is dead.
and no more gmail and all that where privacy is hypocrisy.

and i'm fucked up to prove that i'm not a robot.
when i see it - i just close the tab.
              it's faster.
i don't want to prove anything to anyone and have no wish to reveal my identity to strangers on the internet.

              this is lame.

              fuck it.
