Fediverse Relay Service
This project provides a free ActivityPub relay service for the Fediverse, primarily focused on technology-oriented communities. It is designed to help smaller and single-user instances connect more easily to the wider network and gain visibility across platforms such as Mastodon, Pleroma, Akkoma, GoToSocial, snac, and other compatible ActivityPub software.
Many smaller Fediverse instances — especially single-user or low-traffic servers — often struggle with visibility. Their posts may not spread far beyond a limited network, and their users may have difficulty discovering interesting content from other communities. Without a steady flow of federation traffic, timelines can feel empty and disconnected.
This relay helps solve that problem. By relaying public posts between participating instances, it allows smaller nodes to:
- Increase the reach and visibility of their public posts
- Discover content from a wider range of servers
- Strengthen federation connections automatically
- Reduce isolation of single-user or niche instances
- Participate more actively in the broader Fediverse
The relay is lightweight, scalable, and designed to be simple to join. It aims to support decentralization by helping independent instances remain discoverable without requiring large follower networks or manual federation management.
Focus
While the relay is open to many types of content, it is especially oriented toward technology-related communities and topics such as:
- BSD (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, etc.)
- Linux and open source software
- Networking and infrastructure
- IPv6 and internet technologies
- Self-hosting and home labs
- DevOps and system administration
Why Use This Relay?
If you run a smaller Fediverse instance, you may notice that:
- Your posts do not travel far beyond your direct followers
- Your local timeline feels quiet or empty
- It is difficult to discover relevant content from other servers
- Manual federation with many instances is time-consuming
A relay helps bridge those gaps by automatically forwarding public posts between connected servers. This improves content discovery, strengthens federation, and helps smaller instances become part of the wider conversation without losing their independence.
Rules
- No hate speech
- No pornography (in any form)
- No spam
- No illegal content
The relay is moderated to maintain a respectful and technology-focused environment. Instances that repeatedly violate the rules may be removed.
