Run Samsung DeX in UWQHD 3440×1440 resolution (21:9) w/o DeX Pad
First time plugging in you new Samsung device to run Samsung DeX may be very annoying when it comes to QHD, WQHD or UWQHD screens. While you may still work in full HD mode in WQHD screens the scaling on UWQHD may drive you crazy. Next to scaling issues you may also want to run the full resolutions on your device instead running only on full HD. However, the official answer is to get a DeX Pad with active cooling to unlock the full resolution.
However, you can also unlock this in software – and you do not need any root access. It looks just amazing and works great even without any further active cooling (depending on your local workloads).
Luckily, this can be unlocked by Samsung’s App “Good Lock” and its plugin “Multistar”. Just follow these short guide to unlock the resolutions:
- Open “Galaxy Store” on you device
- Search for “Good Lock” and download the app
- Open “Good Lock”
- Choose “Life up” in the bottom right
- Search for “MultiStar” and install it
- Click the “MultiStar” menu item in “Good Lock”
- Click on the text “I love Samsung DeX”
- Enable “High resolution for external display”
Afterwards, you can just connect you phone to your display and choose higher resolutions from your settings menu. Within “MultiStar” you may also find additional settings to unlock for a better DeX experience. Just take your time to take a look an additional options. Afterwards, you may love DeX a little bit more in your daily usage.
